James Harold (Jim) Wetz was born on December 23, 1945 and passed away on July 19, 2024 at the age of 78. He lived and raised his family in Comal County on land that was settled by his German ancestors in the mid 1800's. He was very proud of his long German heritage and enjoyed researching both his family tree and the history of the German Texas immigrants. From a very early age he worked on the family land. He enjoyed taking care of farm animals and he loved the land and the solitude of being out on a tractor in the field. It suited his quiet and introverted personality. He continued farming as an adult for as long as he was able. In addition to being a farmer, Jim was a talented artist. Even as a child he enjoyed drawing, and then studied art in college and received his degree from SWTSU. During his lifetime he completed many works of art in media ranging from pen and ink, oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastels, and charcoal, as well as some artistic ceramic works. Jim also enjoyed gardening, bowling, and spending time with his family playing games. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan Wetz, his daughter, Arianne Wetz, and his son, James Paul Wetz. He is also survived by nephews, Walter, Daniel, and Samuel Wetz, as well as several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Mary Wetz, and his brothers, Roy David Wetz and John Allen Wetz.
Jim will be interred at the Bracken Methodist Church Cemetery after a short graveside service.
