James Frederick Thompson, born September 9, 1940 in Allentown PA, passed away on February 13, 2016, in New Braunfels, TX. James is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph H and Marie Thompson; and his uncle Richard Meischeid. He is survived by his wife, M. Dale Thompson; son, Eric J. Thompson, step- children, Rhonda Allen (Dan) and Richard Dunivan (Nancy); grandchild, Alexander Thompson; step-grandchildren, Joshua McCurdy, Madison McCurdy, David Allen, and Maxwell J. Dunivan; brothers, Joseph H Thompson (Barbara), and Terrance R. Thompson (Ann); uncles, William Thompson (Shirley), James Thompson (Shirley), Joseph Meischeid (Doreen); and aunt Peggy Meischeid. He also had numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. James was a graduate of Allentown High School in PA, then graduated from George Mason University with a Master's Degree in Special Studies. He served in the US Navy, after which he was in the CIA where he retired from after 30 years. Following his work with the CIA, he went on to be a Department of Defense contractor for 12 years as a systems engineer. In his final retirement, he split his time between his home in Schertz, TX and his lake house on Lake of the Ozarks, MO. Jim loved long road trips driving to places like Napa Valley California, Bar Harbor, Maine, Key West, Florida, Mount Rushmore, and many many more. Jim was a very generous person devoting his time, energy, and support to his church and several charities, he also looked forward to and enjoyed being Santa Claus for 40 years. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at 10:00 AM, at Saint Margaret Episcopal Church (San Antonio). Interment will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis on a later date.
