James Smith

James "Jimmy" Ross Smith, 59 of Cibolo, Texas entered into rest January 20, 2013 in Live Oak, Texas. Jimmy was born January 8,1954 in San Antonio, Texas to Wiley "John" and Jeana (Griffin) Smith. James worked for Cibolo Creek Municipal Authority From October 1, 1975 until the time of his death. He served as Secretary/Treasurer for the Texas Water Utilities Association Southwest Texas Regional School from 1992 until 2010. He was an accredited T.W.U.A. instructor,and Past President of various T.W.U.A. Districts or Chapters. He also was a Co-Author of the T.W.U.A. Wastewater Operations Manual, and Recipient of various awards through T.W.U.A., including the LAS Leadership award. Jimmy enjoyed fishing either at the coast or up at his daughter and son-in-law's place. Trap & Skeet became a good past time after he got his taste for shooting at the Victoria Southwest Texas Regional School. He also played in a country western band for 16 years. He loved wood working,Karaoke,campfire cooking, and shrimp boils. But his greatest joy was watching his two children grow into wonderful caring adults. James is predeceased by his parents, Wiley and Jeana Smith. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Charlyne Smith of Cibolo, Texas, son;Jason Smith daughter;Kaylee and husband Aaron Dammann,Brother;Johnny and wife Marty Smith as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a wonderful host of friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday,January 26, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Schertz Funeral Home, 2217 FM 3009, Schertz,Texas. A reception will follow at the Schertz Community Center,1400 Schertz Parkway,Schertz,Texas, Building #3.
