James Edward Sheerin, 82, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2023, at his home with his wife and children.
Jim was born August 1st 1941 to Tom and Mary Sheerin. He grew up in Kingston, Pennsylvania where he lived his sports-filled young life along with his mother, brother, and extended family of aunts and uncles.
After graduating from high school, Jim joined the United States Air Force as a Data Process Machine Operator. He served at Bergstrom AFB, Scott AFB, Richards-Gebaur AFB, and Randolph AFB, in addition to tours in Toul-Rosieres, France and Cigli AB, Izmir, Turkey. He proudly retired in 1980 as a Systems Analyst in San Antonio after 20 years at the rank of Master Sergeant. After his distinguished career in the Air Force, he worked as a Quality Control Analyst for the United States Post Office, until his retirement in 2003.
Jim was a natural athlete and enjoyed sports throughout his life. As an adult, Jim was active in base and Air Force level fast pitch softball and bowling. He bowled on the Randolph AFB Tuesday Night Mixed League and Wednesday Night Men’s leagues. He golfed in the Monday and Friday gaggle of the Randolph Men’s Golf Association and played with the same Saturday foursome at Randolph AFB for over 25 years.
In his golden years, he worked part time at the Randolph AFB Golf Course. He loved to gamble, travel and enjoyed spending time with Betsy at their vacation home in The Villages, FL where they played golf and enjoyed retirement. He was a generous and loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betsy, his three children, James Sheerin (Norma Juarez), Cynthia Sheerin, and Stacey Lesieur (Rob) and his four grandchildren, Chas Thomas (Anabell), Katy Kent (Chris), Ava Lesieur, and Andrew Lesieur and his maltipoo furry friend, Presley Rose.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of James to The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
