James Gordon Schreck “Jim” age 75 years old and longtime resident of Universal City entered into the gates of heaven on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Northeast Methodist Hospital after a lengthy and courageous battle with COPD.
James was born in Seattle Washington on August 22, 1947 to Col. AJ Schreck and Georgia Stakes Schreck. He spent years traveling with his parents while his dad was active duty. James served in the Air Force, attended college at SWT in San Marcos and began his civil service career as a Civil Engineer working at Fort Sam and then later at Randolph AFB where he retired after 31 years of service in 2003 .He enjoyed the outdoors; he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time on the farm with his family back home in Louisiana. He also loved his yearly beach trips to Port Aransas with his daughter and grandchildren.
James is survived by his daughters Melissa Schreck Maldonado (Richard), Donna Schreck and son David Schreck (Shawn); grandchildren Nevaeh, Traeh, Chantal, Cameron and Jackie; bonus grandchild Renell Maldonado-Gutierrez and bonus great grandchildren Aaron and Aralynn; sister Patty (Vic); numerous cousins from Missouri and Louisiana and friends.
James is preceded in death by his parents Col. AJ Schreck and Georgia Stakes and daughter Shannon NIcole.
A Graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for family and friends. A reception and lunch will follow at the VFW Post 8315 in Schertz.
We would like to extend our special thanks to Kirkwood Rehabilitation of New Braunfels, the Nursing staff at Northeast Methodist Hospital and PCU unit nurses especially Gena and also the Heart to Heart Hospice team from the hospital.
