James Oliphant, Jr.

January 11, 1971 — February 14, 2019

James Romig Oliphant Jr, Jim passed away on February 14, 2019 in a San Antonio, TX care facility after a valiant battle with ALD (Adrenoleukodystrophy). He was born on January 11, 1971 at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He lived in Germany and Arizona before his family settled in Oregon. He was the first of 7 children born to James R. & Sandra (Bowen) Oliphant. Jim graduated from Sutherlin High School in 1989. He enlisted in the United States Army in April 1990. While home on leave he married his high school sweetheart, Jeanie (Pierson) on August 5, 1990 at her parent's home in Roseburg, Oregon. After almost 4 years of enlistment he was released from the Army on a Green to Gold Scholarship to attend Brigham Young University. Jim was commissioned back into the Army and proudly served until August 2001 reaching the rank of Captain. Jim went on to work for Caterpillar. He loved working for CAT as well as the people and opportunities it afforded him. Jim & Jeanie moved to Indiana, Illinois & finally Texas with CAT. Jim touched people's hearts and impacted their lives. His faith, love, strength, loyalty & determination was unwavering. All that knew Jim, knew of his love for cars, especially fast ones. His addiction to buying and selling cars was unparalleled.

He is survived by the Love of his Life, his wife Jeanie and their four children Taylor, DJ (David), Colin & Tanner. His parents, siblings; Christine (Chris) Bullinger, Sara (Patrick) Kirby, Emily (Adam) Manville, Stephen (Holly) Oliphant, Charlotte (Seth) Huyett & Mary (Michael) Marez. His father & mother-in-law, David & Carolyn Pierson. Sister-in-law & brother-in-law Jack & Tracy Van Dolah. Many nieces & nephews, aunts & uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, James Romig ‘JR' Oliphant III & mother-in-law Kathryn Moss. Services will be on February 23rd at 10:00am, The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, 1390 Hanz Dr, New Braunfels, TX 78130. His burial will follow March 16th, 2019 in Umpqua Oregon at the Coles Valley Cemetery next to his son, JR.
