James Albert and Jane Allen Houston Jim Houston of San Antonio, died Friday, November 19, 2010. He was 85 years old. Jim was born in Sparta, Tennessee on January 4, 1925 to Herbert Fielding and Lorene Patton Houston. His loving wife of 64 years passed away five days later on November 24, 2010. Jane Houston, who was also 85 years old was born in Nashville, Tennessee to George Gordon Allen and DeFrancis Ballentine Allen. They are survived by their Daughter Jan Knox and her husband Orion, brother H. F. Houston Jr. and nephews Bruce Douglas Houston and James Gordon Houston. Following his older brothers who joined the army, Jim joined the U. S. Navy during World War II and served as a radioman on the Battleship U.S.S. Pennsylvania. After the war, he returned home to marry his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Jane Allen on July 17th 1946. Using the G.I. Bill he graduated from Middle Tennessee State College and following graduation, went to work in the auditing department at Sears & Roebuck Co. where he continued until retirement. Jane was the pillar of strength looking after her husband and family and was the organizer and keeper of the home during their many years of marriage. Jim and Jane enjoyed flying and traveling. He was a private pilot for many years. Together they traveled all over the world including many exotic destinations. They lived and enjoyed life to the fullest. A military funeral will be held at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio on Monday, November 29th, 2010 at 11:00 AM.
