James Griffin

March 12, 1957 — March 3, 2020

James (Jim), E Griffin, 62, of Schertz, TX, passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 3, 2020, at home after an eight year battle with cancer.  He was born in Greensburg, PA, in March 1957, son of the late Joseph and Thelma Griffin. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Susan Griffin, their son, James Griffin Jr, their daughter, Emma Griffin, and daughter in-law Laura Griffin, and most importantly, his grandson, Daniel Griffin. He is also survived by ten of his siblings, their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Michael, his niece, Jessica Griffin, great nephews, J.R. Gustafson and Noah Griffin, and his great-niece Destiny Berg and Neaveh Griffin.
Jim served 25 years in the Air Force and continued his service to our country as a civil servant for 9 more. During this time, he was CSO Courseware Manager.  In his free time, Jim spent most of his time on the golf course. He was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan and cheered on the Spurs from the moment he moved to San Antonio. One of the greatest joys of his life was being with his grandson.
Visitation will be held at 5 pm on March 10, 2020 at Good Shepherd with a rosary at 7 pm. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on March 11, 2020 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz, TX. Burial will occur at 10:15 am on March 13, 2020 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
