James Gary

J Doug Gary of Schertz, Texas passed away 19 December 2016.

He was born in Anderson, South Carolina to Dot Whitaker and James Monroe Gary. As a teenager, he attended Anderson Boys High School while living with his mother and stepfather, Cecil Smith. They all preceded him.

At the age of 17, he joined the US Air Force where he served on active duty for 20 years until his retirement from Randolph AFB, Texas. He was employed by the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD as an Attendance Officer and Director of Community Education. He continued his public service as the 25th Judicial District Juvenile Probation Officer in Guadalupe County, Texas and then with the Universal City Police Department Juvenile Services until his transfer to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where he served until his retirement in 1999.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn and three children, seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00PM on Monday, December 26, 2016 at Schertz United Methodist Church.

A second Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Northside Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas.

His ashes will be interred at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a future date.
