James Lavaughn Boggan, Jr.

James Lavaughn Boggan Jr., born on January 10, 1960, in San Francisco, California, passed away peacefully at his home in San Antonio, Texas, on October 11, 2023.

Born into a military family, James was inspired by his father's service in the Air Force, a legacy he proudly carried forward. James dedicatedly served his country by joining the United States Air Force on May 29, 1980. Throughout his career, he was an integral part of various medical squadrons, culminating in his honorable retirement on May 31, 2000.

While serving in Korea, James met the love of his life, Jaehwa. Their journey together began overseas and led them to unite in matrimony on August 7, 1989. Their bond of love was further strengthened with the birth of their son, Christopher Boggan, on May 23, 2003. James often remarked that Christopher kept him young, and he took immense pride in every milestone of his son.

A passionate Dallas Cowboys fan, James's enthusiasm for all kinds of sports, classic rock and historical documentaries was equally evident, bringing joy and insight to those around him. Despite his lifelong battle with myotonic dystrophy, his spirit remained unyielding. James was known for his unwavering positivity, deep compassion, and serene demeanor.

The funeral service to honor and remember James will be held on Friday, October 27, at 12 PM at the Schertz Funeral Home.
