Jake Sandusky
August 30, 1986 — April 19, 2012
Army Sgt. Jake Ryan Sandusky, born August 30, 1986, left our world for a better place to be with our heavenly father on April 19, 2012 at the age of 25. He resided in Converse, Tx with his wife, Jessica Marie Sandusky and oldest son, Ryan Matthew Sandusky, age 3. He was expecting his second child, Austin Jake, in June. He is also survived by his mother, Laura J. Karowski Sandusky of Marion, Tx, father Dane G. Sandusky and step mother, Ashlee Musslewhite, of McQueeney, Tx, in-laws Raphael and Susan Rodriguez of Cibolo, Tx, mother in-law, Diana Kennedy of San Antonio, Tx, sisters; Dana Marie Glover of Pa, Ashley Chick Sandusky, step sister, Dakota Lester, step brother, Justin Levi Lester, sister in-law, Melissa Rodriguez, brother in-law, Kyle Yancey, grandparents Willie and Vi Karowski of San Antonio, Tx, and Albert and Dana Sandusky of Pa, grandmother in-law, Lydia Rodriguez of McQueeney, Tx, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and one niece. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Janet Tressler Dillinger of Pa. He retired from the 88M10 Motor Transit Op after 5 years and 8 months of service in the US Army. He received many medals including Army Achievement, Good Conduct, National Defense, Global War on Terrorism, Korean Defense and an Overseas Service ribbon. He was involved with the Wounded Warriors as well. Jake was an amazing father and devoted husband. He was a caring son who was always available at any given moment to lend a hand or a shoulder to cry on. He was protective of his siblings and was very close with them. He was a true friend to all and never met a stranger. He was an enormous sports fan and rarely missed a game whether it was basketball, hockey or football. His sarcastic sense of humor and unique style always brought a smile to the faces of those who knew him best. He will be missed dearly. Visitation will be held Wed, April 25 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, Tx. Services will be on Thurs, April 26 at 12:00 at Schertz Funeral Home followed by a graveside burial at Ft. Sam Houston at 1:30pm. The family invites everyone to refreshments and share memories of Jake at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church on Kitty Hawk Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a memorial fund at Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union, account #8049031, to defray the cost of the funeral arrangements.
