Jacob Allen Thompson, Sr.

Jacob A. Thompson Sr., age 87, of Frisco, TX, joined his beloved wife, Lenora, in Heaven on December 20, 2024. Jake was a devoted husband, exemplary father, and a strong pillar of the community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel Phillip and Inez Rawls.

Growing up in Daytona, FL, Jake pursued a teaching degree at Bethune Cookman College. As a proud graduate, he quickly secured a job in Vero Beach, FL, where he experienced rapid career growth. His passion for helping others led him to a position in Fort Pierce, FL, as a Field School Counselor. There, he visited many at-risk students, meeting them where they were in life, offering grace and a path of accountability to move forward. His leadership was recognized on numerous occasions, and the School Board of Fort Pierce championed his efforts by funding the LAPP program.

Through this program, Jake and Lenora helped teenage mothers obtain their high school diplomas, often guiding them through mentorship.

Jake's faith was unwavering, always praying and being led by his heavenly Father. He will always be remembered for his determined support of his family. He cared for Lenora until her passing and was always available to help any family member in need. As a Life Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Jake helped the organization aid numerous community causes.

Jacob Thompson leaves behind family members and friends who cherished him deeply: his best friend and son, Jacob Thompson Jr.; daughter, Darlene Thompson; daughter-in-law, Monika; grandchildren, Darrius, Nicholas, Aubriana, and Jacob III. He also leaves behind relatives in Fort Pierce, FL, including brothers-in-law Kenneth, Jimmy, and Benjamin Gilliam, as well as his best friend since age 6, Willie Frank Bolden. There are numerous nephews, nieces, extended family, former students, and treasured friends who will continue to hold Jake in their hearts. This angel has earned his wings.

A Visitation for Jacob will be held from 5:00PM - 8:00PM on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel with interment to immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
