Irene Friesenhahn

Irene Cecilia Friesenhahn of Selma, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013, just short of her 81st birthday. She was born to the late Eugene & Bertha (Fey) Stautzenberger, March 22, 1932. Irene graduated from St. Mary's High School and later married Francis W. "Rocky" Friesenhahn on June 7, 1950. Irene worked as a secretary at Judson High School from 1967-1981. She was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma and a life time member of the St. Ann's Society. She was very active with the Selma VFD Auxiliary, the Bracken Bowling Club, and the VFW. Irene was an avid gardener and took pride in her yard. One of her favorite pastimes was spoiling her grandchildren. Her son, Bruce Friesenhahn, her grandson, Justin Irey, and her sister, Florence Harrell, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Rocky; children, Rodney & Jenney Friesenhahn, Brenda & Clayton Irey, Michele & Rick Maas, Janice & Steve Van Slambrouck; brother, Robert Stautzenberger; sister, Marian Elbel; daughter-in-law, Lynn Friesenhahn; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held at Schertz Funeral Home, from 3:00PM-6:00PM, with a rosary to be recited at 5:00PM, on Sunday, March 24, 2013. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma, at 10:00AM, on Monday, March 25, 2013. Interment will follow at Selma Cemetery #2. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a cancer society of your choice.
