Ileana P. Walsh, known affectionately by her grandchildren as Mamo, left us unexpectedly the morning of Monday, the sixth of August. She passed away peacefully in the company of her family in San Antonio, Texas.
Ileana was born on 19 August 1938 in Laredo, Texas to Refugio Pena and Guadalupe Pena (nee Ramon). She graduated from Martin High School and held a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from NYIT. After she married, she became a resident of New York, New York for 25 years and was then a resident of San Antonio, Texas for 35 years. She was a school teacher and business owner.
Ileana is survived by her husband John G. Walsh of 59 years on

. She was the beloved mother of John G. Walsh Jr. and wife, Dottie, Sandra G. Walsh, and Robert A. Walsh and wife, Ida; grandmother of Alexandra G. Vasile, Mackenzie R. Vasile, Nicholas J. Vasile, William D. Walsh, and Patrick L. Walsh; sister of Ernesto (Neto) Pena, deceased, Antonio (Tony) Pena, deceased, and Refugio (Cookie) Pena; and friend of countless. All were blessed to know her and will mourn her loss.
Ileana poured her heart and soul into loving and caring for her family. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her infectious personality, kindness, and generosity. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial mass on Thursday, 16 August 2018, at 2pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ileana's name to San Juan: Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle National Shrine, where she and John received a special blessing for their 50
th
