Homer J. Watson passed away on July 19, 2019, at Seasons Alzheimer’s Care facility in San Antonio, Texas, where he was a resident. He was born on February 24, 1946 in Galena, Kansas to Harvey J. Watson and Bessie Mae Huffman. He was raised in and attended school in Galena, Kansas, where he graduated Valedictorian of his high school class of 1964. Homer furthered his education with college in Pittsburg, Kansas where he attained a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Physics. He then taught high school math and physics for a few years before making a career with the Federal Government Civil Service Air Force for the next 39 years.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, one brother and one step-son. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Debra Watson, brother, Henry Watson & wife Elaine, one son, one daughter, 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will have a private visitation at Schertz Funeral Home, followed by cremation. No formal services are planned. Interment will also be held privately at St. Paul Cemetery in Cibolo, Texas.
Mr. Watson will be remembered as a kind man, slow to anger, and a true gentleman in every respect. He will be greatly missed.
