Master Sargent (Retired) Henry G. Vasquez, 84 lost his battle with Parkinson’s on June 27, 2019. Henry is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rebecca M. Vasquez, his two sons Henry G. Vasquez, Jr. and David L. Vasquez, five grandchildren Christopher, Andrew, Joshua, Jacob, and Sarah as well as two great granddaughters Madelyn and Emilia.
He is also survived by his brothers John N. Vasquez, Gilbert L. Vasquez, William L. Vasquez and sisters Mary Jane Schott and Mary Ellen Ledesma. He is preceded in death by his youngest son, Victor A. Vasquez, parents Eliseo and Juanita Vasquez and three siblings Eva, Ruben and Mary Louise.
Henry was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he proudly served his country and earned a number of medals, including the Bronze Star. After retiring from the Air Force in 1973, he continued his federal career as a Management Analyst until his retirement in 1991. Henry believed in giving to others and became a dedicated volunteer over the years.
He spent many hours with the Masons, Jaycees, Rotary Club, LULAC, Boy Scouts, Lions Club and helped active military and veteran’s as a pharmacy tech volunteer at Randolph AFB. Two of his favorite charitable organizations are Habitat for Humanity, which builds homes for those in need and San Antonio Airport Ambassadors, which provides friendly customer service to airport passengers and helps greet the many visitors to the City of San Antonio.
Funeral services will be at held at Schertz Funeral Home and Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with scheduled as follows:
Viewing will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Monday July 8 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Services will start at Schertz Funeral Home on Tuesday July 9 at 9:00 AM
Graveside service will be held at Fort Sam Houston and starts at 10:45 AM
