Helen Rook
April 25, 1927 — July 8, 2012
Dr. Helen LaVerne Rook was born April 25, 1927 to Clarence O. and Violet Mae (Moore) Ferguson in Norton, Kansas. She passed away on July 8, 2012 at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard George Rook, parents, Clarence and Violet Ferguson, brothers, Jackie, Glen, and Donald Ferguson, and sister, Betty Atwill. She is survived by daughter, Nancy L. Robinson, of Universal City, Texas and Lieutenant Colonel Kevin D. Rook and wife Cyndi of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, Jay Robinson and wife Yasuyo, Richard Robinson and wife Michelle, and Christi Robinson; six great grandchildren; sister Bonnie Childs and husband, George of Hutchinson, Kansas; brother-in-law Beuford Rook and wife Debbie, of Clay Center, Kansas. Dr. Rook loved teaching and treasured her relationship with her students. As a military wife she taught where her husband was stationed which included Kansas, Florida, Azores, Taiwan, Philippines, and Texas. She was a classroom teacher, principal, curriculum coordinator and director of secondary education during her years in education. A Memorial service will be held at the Universal City United Methodist Church, 90 Winn Ave, Universal City, TX 78148 on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11:00am.
