Harold Wenzel

Harold L. Wenzel, 74, of San Antonio, TX, passed into the arms of our Lord on Saturday, March 15, 2008. Harold passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and loved ones. A native Texan, Harold was born on his parents farm in Bexar County on July 14, 1933. Harold was predeceased by his father, John, mother Rosie, brothers; Elmer, John, Bernard and his brothers-in-law; Ralph Davis and August Holtz. Harold is survived by his brother Anthony; his sisters; Florine Davis, Rosabell Holtz, Bernadine Petoskey; his son Russell W. Wenzel and wife Jill; granddaughter; Grace Elizabeth; his sister-in-law; Bobbie Jasek and numerous nieces and nephews. Harold attended Alamo Heights High School and graduated in 1950. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, became a veteran of the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1955. Harold has been a member of the St. Michaels Society since 1955. Soon after his discharge, with an entrepreneurial and maverick spirit, Harold and his business partner, J.C. Williams, opened their own business within the floor covering industry. Harold and J.C. ensured Ace Floor Covering remained a successful and going concern until its sale over 40 years later. A Visitation will be held in the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated March 19 @ 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church followed by a burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Cemetery Number One.
