Major, USAF Retired, Halbert G. Marsh, born on February 5, 1922 , passed away on December 26, 2015 , at the age of 93. Halbert was a Command Pilot, WWII Fighter ACE, Korean and Vietnam Veteran with more than 4,600 flying hours. He was called to active duty in 1943 and medically retired from the United States Air Force in 1968 after more than 26 years of Active and Reserve service. A 1948 graduate of Auburn University , he held memberships in the VFW, the American Legion, the 40 & 8, and the Order of Daedalians. All he ever wanted was to be remembered as a good fighter pilot. He is survived by his wife, Brigadier General, USAF Retired, Mary Marsh; a brother, Earl; niece, Gayle; and nephew, Earl, Jr. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 9, 2016 at 10:00AM at Schertz Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to Fort Sam Houston Fisher House.
