Gloria Esther Bonet-Colon, born in San Juan, resident of Caguas, Puerto Rico was born November 8, 1947. She passed from this life into the loving arms of her heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 14, 2013. She is survived by her husband Roberto Velez, children Lis Y. Fontanez (Lissy), Sonia Caceres, Marisol Velez, Roberto Velez, Myrna Velez, Ericka Velez, 7 grandchildren plus one grandchild on the way, one great-granddaughter, her step father Gilberto (Gil) Nieves, sisters Hilda and Iris, brothers Edgardo (Eddie), Jose (Joe) and Carlos (Carlitos) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Almeida Nieves, father Manuel Bonet, brother Vinson Bonet and sister Grisel Bonet. Gloria was a graduate of Columbia College, Caguas Puerto Rico where she obtained a Bachelors Degree as a Registered Nurse. For most of her career she served as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse. She was a dedicated and compassionate nurse who time after time provided care and comfort to her patients and families. Gloria enjoyed crochet, reading and cooking for her large family. She was loved by many for her bright sense of humor and small talks . She loved giving her perspective on life and was quick to remind you how beautiful she was. While living at the Silver Tree Nursing Home she brought joy and laughter to all who crossed her path. She loved karaoke, singing and dancing to the tunes of Elvis and her favorite This Girl is on Fire . She lived her life striving to persevere and be the best in every phase of her life, as a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. At her request, her children will hold a private viewing and she will be cremated. Her children and family sincerely appreciate all prayers and condolences and ask that you honor her life by living your lives to the fullest. The family also extends their sincerely gratitude to the Heart to Heart Hospice staff for the compassionate and dedicated care provided to Gloria these last few months. To all of the staff and nurses of the Silver Tree Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, thank you as well for loving and caring for Gloria.
