Gisela Cumming

August 12, 1934 — December 10, 2016

Gisela "Jean" Meta Cumming was born in Wehdel, Germany on August 12, 1934 and went home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2016. She came to the United States in 1951 and lived in Long Island, New York where she worked in her Aunt's Delicatessen. She met her future husband, Anson J. Cumming, and was married on April 30, 1955. They made their home in Maine and eventually moved to Florida. Later, Jean and her daughter moved to Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Augusta and Karl Buecker and her husband, Anson Cumming. She is survived by her daughter, Marlana Cumming; brothers, Ewald Buecker, Henry Buecker; sister, Marlene Hemeyer, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends. Jean loved her Lord and Savior and was active in several ministries over the years and was a member of Cibolo Valley Baptist Church. She also ministered at First Baptist Academy Universal City. Her life verse was Philippians 4:13. She served her Lord faithfully and led many to the Kingdom. She was greatly loved and will be missed by many. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 5:00PM - 9:00PM at the Schertz Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 2:00PM at the Cibolo Valley Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery. Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Cibolo Valley Baptist Church, 5500 FM 1103, Cibolo, TX 78108 or First Baptist Academy, 1401 Pat Booker Road, Universal City, TX 78148.
