Gilbert Staats

October 2, 1931 — July 24, 2009

Gilbert James Staats was born on October 2, 1931 to Gilbert H. and Vandelia (Leifeste) Staats in Marion, Texas. He passed away on July 24, 2009 at home in Marion, surrounded by his family, at the age of 77. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Myrtle; daughter, Shawna Lynne Pooley & husband, Allen, of San Marcos; son, Todd Regan Staats of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Ariana and Alynn; sister, Dorothy Lundholm of Iron Mountain, Mich.; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, Texas. Memorial donations may be made to: The Guadalupe County Humane Society, 2484 N.
