Gilbert Leon

February 4, 1925 — May 11, 2020

Gilbert De Leon, born on February 4, 1925, in Zuehl, Texas, passed away on May 11, 2020, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 95. Gilbert proudly served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II.  Gilbert worked many years as a bartender at Randolph Air Force Base NCO Club and retired right before the NCO current relocation.  In honor of Gilbert’s retirement, the NCO Club named one of the bars “Gil's Pub.”  He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Felis De Leon; son, Gilbert De Leon, Jr; daughter, Isabel De Leon; parents, Juan and Felice De Leon; and his siblings. Gilbert is survived by his children, Gloria De Leon Cantu, Antonio “Tony” De Leon, Mary Jane Ives and husband Keith ; brothers, Freddie De Leon and wife Gloria and Robert De Leon and wife Angie; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends. “It takes a special man to be a good father, ours was a good daddy.”  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday May 22, 2020 at 10 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  A private interment will take place at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
