Gerda Maria Hughes, age 77, passed away on December 20, 2018 in Cibolo, Texas. She was born to Roman and Maria Schneider on October 4, 1941 in Germany. She became an American citizen in 1965, and worked in many areas of civil service throughout her life, including the immigration office, the US Army, and the US Air Force. After many years of faithful service to our country, she retired in 2002. Gerda loved gardening, baking, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
Gerda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wilbert C. Hughes. She is survived by her son: Wilbert Hughes & wife, Nancy; daughter: Sandra Davis & husband Steven; grandchildren: Casey Hughes, Cody Hughes, Colton Hughes, Jennifer Lambrecht & husband Travis and Christina Sonnen & husband Justin; great-grandchildren: Shawn, Chris, Matthew, Kristen, Travis, Nathaniel, Kailey, Kensley and Lincoln; sisters: Erna Gebauer and Elfriede Schneider; as well as many other family members and friends.
A Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00PM on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Schertz Funeral Home, with special words being spoken by the family at 5:30PM. If you would like to send flowers, please contact Jo's Flowers and Gifts in Cibolo, TX.
