Geralyn Stead

Geralyn "Gerri" Sue Stead peacefully passed away in her sleep at her home early Tuesday morning September 13th, 2016 at the age of 60. She was born in Enid, Oklahoma on December 25th, 1955. She had lived in Oklahoma and Hawaii until moving to San Antonio, TX in 1966 and graduated from John Jay high school in 1974, she then acquired her associates degree from San Antonio College before starting her 37 year career working Civil Service at Randolph Air Force Base. She later moved to Schertz, TX in 1989 where she raised her three children and lived out the rest of her life. Despite the many challenges and hardships she was faced with in her life, she never complained. She was always doing all she could for others and never asked for anything in return. She loved her family and loved being a grandma "Grandma GG" to her beautiful grandchildren. With such an unexpected loss comes great sorrow from those that loved her, but she was called home by the lord and is now healed able to hold her son once again. Gerri is preceded in death by her son Richard "Ricky" Allen Stead Jr, and by her parents; Lois Catherine and Joseph James Haney. She is survived by her two daughters Roxanne Ashely Stead and Richelle Arlene Stead, her two grandchildren; Aubrilyn May Stead and Sylus Malaki Ray Heins, and by all six of her siblings; Joseph Haney, Patricia Haney, Timothy Haney, Karen Haney, John Haney and Mary Haney.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2:00PM-6:00PM with a Rosary to be recited at 5:00PM at Schertz Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 2:00PM at Schertz Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Selma Cemetery No. 2.
