Geraldine Wyatt

Meda Geraldine (Cure) Wyatt, 93, of Schertz died April 18, 2015 in San Antonio Texas. Geraldine (Jerry) Wyatt was born April 6, 1922 in Gilliland (Knox County) Texas to Jake Omar and Nancy Almeda (Mitchel) Cure. The seventh of eight children, she attended high school in Seymour, Truscott and graduated High School after completing two courses at Abilene Christian College (now Abilene Christian University).She entered Abilene Christian College as a freshman in the fall of 1938. There she met J.R. (Pat) Wyatt on October the 9th. They were married on April 10 1939, in Abilene. In May of 1941 they both graduated from college and found employment with the Benjamin school system. She taught in elementary school while her husband was the high school principal and a teacher. During her husband's military career she taught in Gilliland and O'Brien, Texas as well as in Fairfax, Virginia. Her final stint as a teacher was at Rose Garden Elementary in Universal City, Texas. They retired to Schertz in 1972 after 30 years in the Air Force. She was an excellent seamstress and homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting beautiful afghans to share with friends and family. She is survived by her son, Jake and wife Anna Wyatt of San Antonio and a daughter Nancy Jurecka and husband George of Weimar Texas; five grandchildren Jake Robert Wyatt (Michelle) of Austin, Daniel Wyatt (Kathleen) of Austin, Patty Wyatt of San Antonio, Jason Jurecka (Jamie) of Carlsbad, California and Ginger Jurecka-Blake (Bill) of Saugerties, New York; extended family include Lisa Aguilar (Jason), Luis Tony Aguilar, Sara Aguilar and Daniel Aguilar; great-grandchildren Brendan, Mathew, Haven, Andrew and Cory Wyatt; Kaia Aguilar and Isabella Moreno; and Ryan Jurecka. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Patricia, husband J.R. (Pat), a sister (Flora) Fern Coltharp, six brothers (Jewett) Omar, Louie (Arnold), Ray Lynn, Wayne, Mitchell and Lowell Cure and all of her in-laws. Grave side services, under the direction of Schertz Funeral Home, will be held Monday, April 27, 2015 at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park in New Braunfels, 11:30am, with Chaplain Hank Irvin officiating. The family suggests donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
