George Sweet Sr.

George Melvin Sweet Sr. born on December 29, 1940, passed away on June 24, 2015, at the age of 74. George served as a First Sergeant, U.S. Army (Retired) from 1959 - 1983, he then worked as a Federal Civil Service Civillian from 1983 - 2006. In 2006 - 2015 he worked as an Education Specialist, at the University of Maryland Campus. George had received his Associate in Arts from St. Phillips College in 1988. He then went on to earn his Bachelors of Applied Arts & Sciences at Southwest Texas State University in 1990 and his Masters of Education in Management of Technical Education from Texas State University in 2009. George is preceded in death by his father, Melvin P. Sweet; mother, Anna Sweet; brother, Harry Sweet. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Alice Sweet; sons, George M. Sweet Jr., Steve A. Sweet; grandchildren, Kristen Sweet, Karoline Sweet, Kevin Sweet, Victoria Sweet, Alexandria Sweet, Olivia Sweet, Rebecca Sweet; great grandchildren, Kellen Lundholm, Hadley Lundholm; brother, Richard Sweet, Patrick Sweet, Anthony Sweet, Robert Sweet; sisters, Madeline Lord, Diane Kresak, Sonya Sweet; uncle, Edward Ondusko; aunt, Jean Ondusko. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at the Schertz Funeral Home from 4:00PM - 8:00PM with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church at 9:45AM. Interment is to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
