George Schlather

July 25, 1936 — November 2, 2009

George Clarence Schlather, 73, passed away on November 2, 2009. He was born July 25, 1936 and was baptized at St. Paul Evangelical Church in Cibolo where he lived most of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents George H. and Lucille Lambrecht Schlater. He is survived by his brother Robert L. Bobby Schlather. For the past 2 ½ years George had been living in Converse under the care of Mrs. Saida Carranza and her daughter Damaris Bonds. God provided these special angels to care for his daily needs with love and compassion. George was, like all children of God, a special person with his own unique gifts. While there were many things he could not do, he had other talents that far surpassed many of ours. At the University of Texas he excelled in chemistry. He studied encyclopedias and had an amazing ability to remember dates and facts about people. But because of other limitations, he was unable to pursue higher learning or practice a trade. He lived with his brother Bobby for most of his life. He listened to his favorite radio programs every day. He and Bobby would attend Clemens High School football games together. They were frequently seen having dinner together at Goerkes in Marion, and they enjoyed driving to scenic areas in the Texas countryside. In recent years Georges physical suffering increased. He was severely diabetic and needed constant care. Last Monday, the good Lord took him home to be reunited with his loving parents and be free from the burdens that life on earth had imposed. Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to St. Paul Evangelical Church in Cibolo.
