George Sassman Jr.

George Sassman, Jr, born on April 22, 1930, in Cibolo, Texas, passed away on July 2, 2015, at the age of 85. George grew up on a farm in Cibolo, Texas and graduated from Schertz- Cibolo High School in 1948. In 1951 George enlisted in the Air Force. He was stationed in Savannah, Georgia where he met the love of his life, Luree Jones. They were married in 1953, a marriage lasting 62 years. After George completed his military enlistment he worked at Kelly Field, retiring after 34 years. George was a very gentle and quiet man. He loved the Lord and his family. He was a life Deacon at Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio. George is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ellis Vordenbaum Sassman. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Luree Sassman; three children and their spouses, Roger and Trinora Sassman, Carol and Richard Fray, and David and Christy Sassman; seven grandchildren; one great grandson; one brother, Jerold and Karen Sassman; and numerous very special cousins and extended family members. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at 2:00 PM, at Bracken United Methodist Church, located at 20377 FM 2252, Bracken, Texas,78266 . All services will conclude at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all memorials be made to RACAP (Randolph Area Christian Assistance Program) or to a charity of your choice.
