George Bourgeois, Jr.

George Julius Bourgeois Jr, also known as Skip or Skipper, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend was called home to be with our Lord on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on March 7, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas. His working career consisted of many years working on swimming pools, A-Z Rentals, and running his own construction business building and remodeling houses, strip centers and businesses. He was an active member of the Canyon Lake High School Future Farmers of America Alumni where he served as President, Vice President, and Parliamentarian of the board, he helped organize banquets, galas and silent auctions. He helped his children and other students raise livestock and prepare them for local and county shows and auction. He was a member of the Comal County Junior Livestock Show Association where he worked the drug testing booth and volunteered working in the concession stand and show ring. He participated in the Float A Soldier operation by taking Wounded Warriors out fishing on Canyon Lake in his boat. He was also a former member of the Lions Club in Converse TX, Anhalt Dance Hall, and a leader of Boy Scout Troop 222. He loved bowling and was a member of the Fischer Nine Pin Bowling Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing at the coast, and golf.

He is survived by his son Nathan Louis Bourgeois, daughter Breanne Nicole Bourgeois and grandson Dawson Rea Freeman. One sister Barbara Steidinger and husband Jimmy. Sister-in-law Donna Reilly and husband Clancy, nieces Shelby and Kristin Reilly. He was also survived by numerous cousins and close friends. He will be dearly missed by his three dogs Bella, Petunia, and Blackie. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Fey Bourgeois, and his parents, father George J Bourgeois Sr., mother Tommie Van Riper.

Visitation will be held on Saturday December 7, 2019, at 10:00 am, with a service at 11:00 am at the Schertz Funeral Home, Schertz, Texas. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00pm at the VFW post 8573 in Canyon Lake, Texas.

Donations may be made to the Operation Float A Soldier ( www.floatasoldier.org ) or the Canyon Lake High School FFA (Future Farmers of America) Chapter.
