Gay Mcgauvran
September 26, 1928 — September 22, 2009
Gay Grote McGauvran, age 80, passed away on September 22, 2009. A beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and lifelong San Antonian, she was to have celebrated her 81st birthday on September 26th. Gay graduated from Incarnate Word High School and attended Incarnate Word College. The core values learned from her family and the Sisters of Charity guided her path for the remainder of her life. Gay was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Florean Grote and husband, Terry McGauvran. She is survived by her daughter, Linda ONave & husband, Robert; son, Scott McGauvran & wife, Barbara and grandsons, Scott McGauvran, Jr. and Mark McGauvran. The family's sincerest gratitude is extended to Darlene, George, Harvey, Priscilla and Marty as well as many unnamed others at Regent Care/Oakwell Farms. Their patience, care and love sustained Mom and our family during her time there. Additionally, thanks are due to all those from Vista Care Hospice who so tenderly looked after Mom during her last days in this life. Visitation will be held from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, September 28, 2009 at Schertz Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Grote Family Cemetery on Lookout Rd. George Sturch, First Presbyterian Church, and Tom Robison, Christ Lutheran Church of Alamo Heights will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease, the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word or the charity of your choice.
