CMSGT Gail Boyer USAF (Ret) was born in De Soto, Missouri on November 9, 1943, to Earl and Virginia Boyer, and passed away on September 6, 2019 at the age of 75 in his home in Schertz, Texas.
Gail proudly served in the United States Air Force for 29 years and 8 months retiring at Randolph Air Force Base. Gail then continued to serve our armed forces at Lackland Air Force base as a Civil Service contractor for an additional 15 plus years. Gail was a man of integrity. He believed in honesty, hard work and commitment; qualities he exemplified at work and even more so in his commitment to his family. Family came first in Gail's life. He was as a loving and devoted husband to Maria Boyer for 49 years and a caring and very attentive father to Terri Anderson and grandson Brandon Anderson.
Retirement for Gail did not mean rest and relaxation; in fact it was quite the opposite. Retirement allowed time for one of his greatest passions-traveling. He traveled extensively, nationally and internationally. Often saying "it is easier to list the few places I have not seen". One of his great joys was driving and "his baby", his truck, on his cross country trips. He walked the Great Wall of China, zip lined in the rain forest, toured the lands of Australia, New Zealand and South America, where he discovered The Iguazu Falls that bordered Brazil, Argentina and Parana. Calling it the most beautiful place he had seen and a must for all.
Gail had a love and zest for life and his infectious smile coupled with a quick wit and humor drew people to him. He dedicated his live to loving and serving his family and others and he made and impact and impression on those who knew him. Once you met him, you immediately knew he was a man of honor and integrity, but possessed a loving warmth that made everyone feel special. He was by nature kind and generous - unless of course you were playing cards! And then his competitive streak and sharp mind made him a difficult man to beat.
Gail was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Maria Boyer. He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Anderson; grandson, Brandon Anderson; sister, Diana with husband Ray; brothers, Earl with wife Yoko, and Richard; nieces and nephews, Sam, Andi, Glen and Linda.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 3:00PM-7:00PM at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 10:00AM at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
