Frederick Martin
December 17, 1931 — August 19, 2014
FREDERICK WILLIAM MARTIN, JR. Fred Martin of Seguin, Texas arrived in this world on December 17, 1931, and left us on August 19, 2014. He was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, the oldest of three brothers. After graduating from St. Joseph's High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950. He met his wife, Barbara Gerrish, when they were both stationed in Great Falls, Montana. They traveled with their family all over the world to duty assignments, including France, Hawaii, and Thailand. They particularly enjoyed their time in Hawaii. Fred served with pride and retired from Randolph AFB in 1978 as a Chief Master Sergeant. Through the years, "Chief" as he was affectionately known, and Barbara enjoyed square dancing, ceramics, gardening, camping, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Fred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara, his daughters Linda Rose and Patricia White (Richard), his grandchildren, Sharon Rose Flack (David), Regina Rose Huerta (Robert), Desiree White Peltier (Travis), Michael, Christopher and Alexander White, and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers, John "Jackie" Martin (Roberta) and James Martin (Phyllis), who knew him as "Sonny," and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Frederick "Little Freddy" III and Michael James, father and mother Frederick W. Martin, Sr. and Julia (Hoover), and son-in-law Bill Rose. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Fred will always be remembered for his sense of humor and endless jokes, as well as his generous nature. A private service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on September 5, 2014, where he will be interred.
