Frederic Goerke

August 26, 1950 — June 7, 2018

Frederic "Freddie" Goerke suddenly left us on June 7, 2018 to be with our Heavenly Father. He was born on August 26, 1950 in New Braunfels, Texas to Werner Goerke and Lucille Acker Goerke. He is preceded in death by his parents, Werner and Lucille, and grandparents Fritz and Adela (Staats) Goerke and Edmond and Clara (Vogel) Acker. Also by his in-laws Wilbur and Minnie Ashley Foreman and brother-in-law, Wilfred Foreman.

Freddie has lived his entire 67 years on Weil Road right outside of Marion, Texas. In 1973 he met the love of his life, Beverley Foreman and they were married on December 1, 1973 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas. They have enjoyed 44 wonderful years together.

Freddie attended Marion Independent School District and graduated in 1968. After graduation, he joined the Air Force Reserves and spent the majority of his service at Chanute Air Force base in Illinois. After returning to Marion, he held several different jobs including driving a truck for Missouri Pacific, working for a bread company, and carpentry. In 1972 he found his "true calling" when he started working for his parents at Goerke's Country Tavern, He taught himself how to be a butcher, a sausage maker, a BBQ master, a caterer, a cook, a bartender, and a boss who connected with every employee that came thru the door. He was the backbone of Goerke's Country Tavern for 36 years. The customers loved him and would often seek him out just to say "Hello" and visit for a while. His employees loved and respected him as well and stayed in touch with him thru the years.

While working at Goerke's, Freddie also enjoyed farming and raising cattle. He was an avid gardener and always loved growing fruit trees. He was also an excellent Skat player and taught numerous friends this very complicated German card game.

Freddie was a lifetime member of the Greater Randolph Area Trail Ride Association and served as President three terms as well as other positions within the club. He was also a life time member of the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo where he proudly served on the Horse Show Committee, the Trail Ride Committee and the Ambassador Committee. He was also a life time member of the Cibolo Bowling Club and Herman Sons.

Freddie was well known for his very generous heart and his outstanding sense of humor. He was a prankster, a jokester, and storyteller. He loved making people laugh, and his "man cave" garage was always open to family and friends. He Loved entertaining and never passed up an opportunity to socialize and party. He lived life to the fullest and was loved by tons of friends. He was a family man, a devoted husband, father, and opa. He was the very best brother that any sister could ever ask for. There are no words to express how much he will be missed.
