Fred Wagner
January 22, 1953 — November 17, 2015
Chris Wagner died at his home in Marion, November 17, 2015 at the young age of 62. He is survived by his mother, Geraldine Wagner of Carlsbad N.M. and two nephews, also of Carlsbad. He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Wagner and his brother Dennis.
Chris Wagner was a born philosopher. From a very young age, he had insights that few people have. He started first grade in 1959 and within a few weeks, his obvious intelligence prompted his teachers to move him up to the second grade.
Chris defied convention and inspired those who would truly listen to him to be more real in their interactions and soulful in their spirit. He developed into a unique character that was often magical and magnetic to others though sometimes perceived negatively and judged harshly. His appearance was so unusual and unique that one time while standing still just observing the behavior of people, one man came up very close to him examining him and was startled when Chris moved. He apologized to Chris saying he thought he was a statue! For those of us who knew and loved Chris, the loss of his earthly presence and creative mind is hard to bear. He was a legend in his own time and continues to be our own Hi-Billy Holy Man. Rest in Peace, My Friend. Your spirit and lessons are forever with us more than you know.
