Frank Hidalgo

November 21, 1935 — May 5, 2016

Frank E. Hidalgo, age 80, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016. Frank was born November 21, 1935 in Weeks Island, Louisiana and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hypolite Hidalgo. He was the youngest son of three children. He served in the US Air Force from 1955 to 1980 as a personnel specialist and achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. After his active duty career, he embarked on another successful civil service career with the Air Force, as a personnel manager for 10 years at Randolph Air Force Base. It was during his extensive time in the Air Force that he discovered a true passion for golf. After retiring as a government servant, he worked at the Randolph Golf Course for many years. As Frank's roots ran deep in Schertz, he did not forget his home state or Louisiana culture, he followed New Orleans Saints and LSU football. We fondly remember Frank as a loving and caring husband, providing father, adoring grandfather, loyal brother and son, faithful veteran and community servant, and the kind of friend you wanted to spend time with. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and brother in the Church's Knights of Columbus council. He was married for 60 years to his loving wife, Barbara Hidalgo. Frank has three sons, three grandsons, 2 granddaughters, and 3 great grandchildren. Frank is preceded in death by his son Dale. He is survived by his wife Barbara; two sons, Danny and Glen; grandsons Nicholas, Anthony, Brian and Levi; granddaughters Danielle and Ariel; his brother Larry Hidalgo and sister Hazel "Birdie" Rousse. A Funeral Service will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Monday, May 16th, 2016, at 1030, lunch to immediately follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 509 Schertz Pkwy, Schertz, TX. Graveside services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National at a time and date in the near future.
