Francis Friesenhahn

Francis W. “Rocky” Friesenhahn of Selma, Texas, passed away Friday, February 14, 2020. He was born to the late Louis & Lillian (Reininger) Friesenhahn, May 18, 1927. Rocky graduated from Brackenridge High School. He married Irene Cecilia Stautzenberger on June 7, 1950, and they shared 62 years of marriage before her passing. Rocky worked as a home builder and began his own company, along with his late brother, Virgil, where they developed many subdivisions in the Converse and outlying areas. He was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma and a lifetime member of the St. Michaels’s Society. Rocky was one of the twenty-nine persons who signed a petition to incorporate Selma in 1964. He remained very active in the city of Selma, where he served as the mayor for many years and countless terms as a councilman and on the planning and zoning board. He was an original member of the Selma Volunteer Fire Department. He was active in the Lions Club and VFW.
Rocky is preceded in death by his wife, Irene, his sister, Irene Venuto, his brother, Virgil Friesenhahn; his sons, Bruce Friesenhahn and Rodney Friesenhahn; and his grandson, Justin Irey. He is survived by his sisters, LaVerne Bauman (Harry) and Violet Olsen, brother-in law, Jim Venuto, sister- in- law, Bonnie Boenig; and his children: Brenda Irey, Michele & Rick Maas, Janice & Steve Van Slambrouck; and his daughter-in-laws, Lynn Friesenhahn and Jenney Friesenhahn. Rocky is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 18, 2020 from 5 pm to 9 pm at Schertz Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7 pm.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday February 19, 2020 at 11 am at our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma, TX.  Interment will follow at Selma Cemetery #2.
