Faustino Roberto Vela was born on July 11th, 1932, to Faustino and Sofia Vela in Laredo, Texas.
Faustino graduated from Martin High School in Laredo, Texas in 1952 and enlisted in the United States Air Force that same year.
Faustino met Ana-Maria Plasencia in 1953 and they were married in 1956.
Faustino served 2 tours in Korea and was stationed at several military bases in Texas. He was also stationed in Michigan and Howard Air Force base, Panama in Central America. He returned to Texas, Laredo Air Force base where he retired in 1972.
After retiring Faustino went back to school and earned his Associate’s degree in Business Management.
In 1973 Faustino went to work for Civil Service at Randolph Air Force base in Universal City, Texas. He moved his family to Universal City and a year later bought a house in Schertz, Texas. He worked at Randolph for 21 years and retired in 1994.
Faustino is survived by his wife, Ana, 3 sons, Faustino Jr. (Pam), Richard (Kelly), and Roland, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his son Francisco (Frank) Vela, his parents, 3 sisters, and 3 brothers.
Faustino loved God, his family, and his country! He was also the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs number 1 fan!
A Graveside Service for Faustino will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:30 PM on Friday, November 12, 2021.
