Evelyn Retzloff

Evelyn Ann Friesenhahn Retzloff passed away with grace on October 26, 2013. She was born at home on November 9, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Friesenhahn and Adeline Schwab Friesenhahn Sobezek. Evelyn was preceded in death by her former husband, Albert L. Retzloff; brothers, John Friesenhahn, Clarence Friesenhahn, Nelson Friesenhahn ;sister, Ernice Wanat and son-in-law Charles Zweifel. She is survived by her children; son, Larry G. Retzloff and wife Ronnie, son, Dennis R. Retzloff, son, Leonard Retzloff, son, Curtis Retzloff and wife Petra, son, Harold Retzloff and wife Deb. ; daughter Beverly Zweifel , daughter, Mary J. Schroeder and husband, Stuart, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Stella Jeneke and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Friesenhahn as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was a child of the Depression and knew the value of a dollar. "Waste not, want not" is a saying she would often tell her grandchildren. She instilled this value along with a strong work ethic that will be a lasting legacy for her family. A visitation will be held from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Schertz Funeral Home, 2217 F.M. 3009, Schertz, TX 78154. A Rosary and Eulogy will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 16075 Evans Road, Selma, TX 78154. A Mass will follow the Rosary. Graveside Services will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery #1 following the Mass. Our family would like to thank the staff at Autumn Winds Retirement Lodge for the care and loving support they gave our mother.
