She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband Harry Hewlett Sr. her brothers Peter, John and Andrew (who died with the 5 Sullivan brothers on the USS Juneau during WW2) - sisters Mary, Sophie and Helen and her grandson Bradly Zunker. She is survived by her children - daughter Lynn Pfohl (husband Dennis), Sons- Lee McVey, Wayne McVey and Todd McVey (wife Holly) - Her stepchildren - stepdaughter Holly Zunker, Stepsons- Andrew Hewlett, Harry Hewlett Jr. (wife Robin), Kelly Hewlett (wife Shelly), 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and her many nephews and nieces. Born in Thomaston, Connecticut in 1929, she moved with her family to Northern New Jersey, then to Southern New Jersey and finally to her adopted home state of Texas - She started working at 21 years of age, working in factories, banks, and many business- including wall street - and in later years being a bookkeeper, buyer etc. including the time she worked with her husband Harry and his partner as the office manager/partner until she was 80 years of age when the business closed and she had no choice but to retire. With only a high school education, learning on the job, she accomplished much. She was so independent that she passed her physical driving test at 84, if you asked her to give you a phone number or address, she could tell you without looking it up - her memory was phenomenal. Facebook was her way of keeping up with everyone all around the country - family and friends - email and online games kept her from getting too bored after her retirement -she hated texting though! She had no hobbies, didn't do crafts, etc. - her life was her husband, children and grandchildren as well as her nephews and nieces, her thing was "call me when you get home" and if you didn't you could expect her to call you - Among other things she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and she was her family's biggest cheerleader for all of their activities, as well as her grandchildren and their many school sports teams (many times keeping stats etc.) and oh yes she was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. A memorial celebration will be announced at a later date - memorial contributions can be made to: Cancer Research and/or The American Heart Association.
