Ethel Rosezella VanSlyke (Rose), born December 1, 1934 to Stellie & Annie Smith in Hulbert, Oklahoma, passed away on May 19, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 79. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. VanSlyke. She is survived by children: Donald G. VanSlyke & wife, Diane, Linda D. Naylor & husband, Robert and Jimmy D. VanSlyke & wife, Kandy; siblings: Laura Reschly, Ralph D. Smith and Troy F. Smith; grandchildren: Dana, Eric, Deborah, Chrissy, DeAnne, Stephanie and TJ; and 15 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00PM on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will follow at a later date.
