Estrellita Tolmie

February 1, 1946 — June 20, 2015

Estrellita "Lita" R. Tolmie, born February 1, 1946 in Manila, Philippine, passed away peacefully in her home on June 20, 2015, at the age of 69. Lita grew up in the Philippines and had son, Edwin, before meeting her first husband and moving to the United States in 1976, she would have two daughters, Michelle and Priscilla before divorcing in 1984. She married her second husband, Robert J. Tolmie, on March 16, 1985. Lita started in the health care as a nurse's aide before graduating from nursing school, achieving her vocational nursing license. After LVN school, Lita was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Having survived 10 years of surgeries, one in which lasted over 16 hours and nearly took her life, complications forced her into an early retirement, and she was also an 11 year breast cancer survivor. Estrellita and Robert moved to Schertz, Texas in 1999 and together enjoyed camping and vacationing until his death in February of 2008. Estrellita was a happy-go-lucky, fun spirited woman who dedicated her life to her strong Catholic faith and the compassionate care of others; she found joy in singing, dancing and sewing, and was also an avid bargain shopper who could have often been found browsing local garage sales and flea markets. Even through her own adversities, Estrellita was passionately dedicated to the care and support of her children and siblings, which was a value she instilled in her children. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Estrellita is preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Tolmie; parents, Bonifacio and Andrea Ramos; sisters, Evelinda H. Ramos, Emelita R. Flynn. Survivors include her son, Edwin R. Gutierrez and wife Julie of Arizona; daughters, Priscilla E. Tolmie, Michelle D. Riley and husband Carl of Schertz, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Willy H. Ramos, Winefredo "Bong" Ramos; and sister, Eleanor H. Ramos. Estrellita will be flown back to the Philippines to be laid to rest with her family
