Enomie Margie Pfannstiel Real, born on October 21, 1921 in Marion, Texas, passed away on June 24, 2020 at the age of 98.
She was born to Edwin Louis Pfannstiel and Johanna Schaefer Pfannstiel near Marion, Texas, where she lived until age 12 attending Marion School. The family moved to Converse in 1934, where she attended the Converse School through 10 th grade, but then went to finish high school at Marion to graduate in 1939 with her former elementary classmates. She was baptized at Marion Lutheran Church in 1922 by Pastor Bronotti. Thereafter, she attended Draughon’s Business College in San Antonio. She worked in San Antonio at Swift and Company and lived in town during the beginning of World War II.
On August 7, 1943 she married Harold Oscar Real at her family home officiated by Reverend Ernest Tischhaven. Harold was in the Army stationed at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. She lived there for over a year before Harold was sent to the European Theatre of War. She then moved home to live with her parents for 1 ½ years until Harold returned. Meanwhile, she worked at Alamo Iron Works, now the site of the Alamodome.
In October 1948, her first son was born – John Thomas (Tommy). In July 1952, second son Charles E. (Chuck) was born. They lived on a farm at Converse.
Enomie was active in Grange work from 1939 and is still a member. She worked with 4-H as an organizational leader for 15 years. She was selected Homemaker of the Year by the Alamo Soil and Water Conservation Association. She became a member of St. Paul United Church in 1949 while Rev. Krueger was pastor. She was also a member of Converse Hermann Sons since 1949. She served as Treasurer for St. Paul Women’s Fellowship for seven years. She also picked ushers each week for many years.
Harold passed away on September 29, 1995, and she lived alone after that.
Enomie is survived by son John Thomas (Tommy) Real and wife Mary Ola, Charles E. (Chuck) Real and wife Debbie, Grandchildren Daryl (Sue), Russell (Sharee), Justin Ty, and Michael Shane (Chelsea) Real and Laura (Ryan) Huebinger, Great Grandchildren Kyle, Grace, Campbell, Prestynne, Klaire, Karlee, Rylee and Liam Cash Real, Kaleb and Kage Herfurth, and Erin, Travis and Jacob Huebinger. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, brother Dr. Daniel and his wife Shirley Pfannstiel, Sister-in-law Anita Real Compton and many friends. Special thanks to Marion Stewart for many years of loving care and to Harbor Hospice for special assistance the last month.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 28, 2020 from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the Schertz Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2020 at 10:30AM St. Paul Evangelical Church, Cibolo, TX with Graveside Service to follow. A Reception will follow the burial at Clemens School Party House, 7930 Gin Road, Marion.
