Emmett Hagedorn
October 11, 1933 — February 28, 2013
Emmett Nelson Hagedorn, born on October 11, 1933, passed away on February 28, 2013, at the age of 79. After serving 4 years in the United States Air Force in Reykjavik, Iceland, Emmett spent the next 19 years in Houston, Texas with the public accounting firm of Pierce Waterhouse and in the accounting departments of Jefferson Chemical and Texaco Chemical. He received his BBA with honors from the University of Texas, earning Outstanding Student of the Year, in 1959. Emmett served at S.M.I. Mini-Mill, the company that serves as the headquarters for C.M.C. Steel Group, and quickly went up the ranks. He was a member of America Institute of C.P.A.s, the Financial Executive Institute and served on the Board of the Texas Association of Business as Statewide Chairman. There were endless clubs that Emmett was a member. Some of those were the San Antonio Rotary Club, President of the first Opera Club of San Antonio, President of the Social Dance Club of San Antonio and the K Club Reveler Dance Club. He was also very proud of the fact that he started the Sugarland Mission Lutheran Church in Sugarland, which quickly became a non-mission church. 50 couples joined and it grew very quickly, never having to rely on Mission for financial assistance, Praise God!! Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Celia Hagedorn; brother, Al Hagedorn; sister, Melinda Hagedorn; sister-in-law, Virginia Hagedorn; numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at 1:00PM, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 6801 Huebner San Antonio, Texas, 78258. All services conclude at the church. Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing to Zion; and everlasting joy shall be on their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
