Our beloved mother, Ms. Emily Elizabeth Haberstroh, age 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, with her three sons and family at her side. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who dedicated herself to her family and career.
Emily was officially recognized by Governor Rick Perry as a "Yellow Rose of Texas" in 2012. The recognition is only bestowed by the Office of the Governor and recognizes outstanding Texas women for their "significant contributions to their communities and to Texas in the preservation of our history, the accomplishments of our present and the building of our future." Emily retired from the U.S. Air Force Headquarters on April 30, 2012 after thirty years of service as a training technician serving the Directors of Intelligence, Operations, and Nuclear Integration in the Air Education and Training Command at Randolph Air Force Base.
Emily had a passion and special talent for gardening and could always be found tending to her yard which was often recognized as her neighborhood's Lawn of the Month. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and traveling. Emily will truly be missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George Dewey and Edna Murr Sheets; siblings, Edna Sheets, Ethel Mae Holtzinger, Roseanne Evans, and Brother George "Wackle" Sheets III. Emily is survived by siblings, Annabelle Auer, Janet Blumenchein, Joanne Barr and Bonnie

; nieces and nephews; her loving sons Michael Steven and wife Lisa, Steven Scott and wife Nikki, and Jeffrey Lynn and wife Melissa. She is also survived by grandsons Dustin and wife Valerie and Cody and wife Deena; granddaughter Brittany; and great grandchildren Ava Grace and Heston Hays.
The family expresses their gratitude to her caregivers at Methodist Vitas Hospice who provided her and her family such comfort. Memorial Services celebrating Emily's life and accomplishments will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016, beginning at 1:00 PM, at the Schertz Funeral Home located at 2217 FM 3009 in Schertz, Texas.
