Emiliano Alvarez

Emiliano "Emilio" P. Alvarez, born on August 8, 1941, passed away on July 31, 2014, at the age of 72. Emilio was a hard worker, family oriented and a kind soul. He was always working on lawn mowers, washing machines or any other appliance that needed tending. Anyone who came in contact with him felt his sincerity and love for the craft. He was driven by the challenge of a broken machine, while confident in his skill, he generously charged his friends prices that were incomparable. Family was a high priority to him and he worked hard so he could have a little extra to spoil his grandkids or help a family member in need. He loved to attend family functions where distant relatives could catch up and reminisce about the old days. Emilio was a simple man, with a selfless attitude and a huge heart for giving. He will be missed dearly but never forgotten. Heaven was in need of a skilled handyman and its apparent why God chose Emilio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco Galan Alvarez and Manuela Paredes Alvarez, and his sister-in-law, Aurelia Alvarez. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Sylvia Iris Manrique; children, Emiliano P. Alvarez, Jr. and his wife, Connie, Iris Sally Manrique, and Alejandro Manrique Alvarez and his wife, Rebecca; grandchildren, Valerie Alvarez, Emiliano Alvarez III, Joanna Hernandez, and Santiago Rueda; siblings, Julio Alvarez, Lupe Alvarez, Maria Hernandez, and Carlos Albarez. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, from 5:00PM-9:00PM, at Schertz Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at 11:00AM, at Schertz Funeral Home, Elder Carlos Albarez officiating. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph's Cemetery, Schertz, Texas.
