Elward Trayler

May 31, 1921 — December 15, 2015

Elward Trayler, born May 31, 1921 in Jarrell, Texas, passed away on December 15, 2015 in New Braunfels, Texas. Elward took great pride in his family; they were the light of his life. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends every chance he had. Some of his favorite memories were made taking family trips every year to Colorado with his wife, Myrtle and her twin sister, Winnie. He did everything he could to help his family and love them with all his heart. When his wife became ill and was placed in a nursing facility, he was there every single day, all day with her. During his final days, he had several friends and family members by his side and he took great comfort in that. He was fully aware of his surroundings and although he could not speak he still made silly hand gestures, as he usually did with his playful sense of humor. Even though it is very difficult for the family, we take great comfort knowing that he is no longer in pain and has gone home to be with his wife and loved ones who have already passed. We are also grateful that he will have a wonderful Christmas with our Lord and Savior. He will be missed by so many, but will remain with us in our hearts, remembering all the wonderful times spent with this amazing man. Survivors include his son, Ronald Trayler and wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Linda Trayler; sisters, Barbara Willis, Helen McNeely, and husband Don; three grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 3:00PM until 7:00PM at Schertz Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, December 28, 2015 at 9:00AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
