Ellen Louise Ellis

April 4, 1937 — February 2, 2024

Ellen Louise Ellis, 86, of the Army Residence Community in San Antonio Texas, passed away from natural causes Friday, February 2, 2024. Ellen was born and raised in Baltimore, MD the daughter of Ainslie and Sarah Rumney. Ellen was married for 63 years to Colonel Ronald R Ellis who preceded her in death. Ellen is survived by her son Jeffrey and his wife Erin, granddaughter Ainslie Ellis, and grandson Grant Ellis.

Ellen married Ronald in 1958 as he joined the USAF and embarked on the lifetime adventure of the military spouse. Ellen went to work for Pan American Airlines in 1961 which offered an opportunity for travel which quickly became a lifetime passion. Ellen traveled the world, accompanied or unaccompanied, it didn’t matter. Ellen even managed to get herself to and from the Khyber Pass in Pakistan “solo”. In later years, the cruise ship became vehicle of choice and she and Ronald traveled the world’s oceans and ports. Ellen was an accomplished bowler and won several league championships, she enjoyed pets and always had a cat in the house.

Ellen will be buried with her husband at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery and no services are planned.
