Elizabeth Young

May 9, 1925 — February 19, 2014

Elizabeth M. "Betty" Young, born to Oscar and Margaret Robinson on May 9, 1925 in Washington, Iowa, went peacefully to her heavenly father on February 19, 2014, at the age of 88. Elizabeth was a devoted wife to LtCol Arthur P. Young, Sr. for 46 years until his death. From this union they were blessed with 7 children, 18 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She lived a very full life traveling internationally with her husband and children. Our mother was a wonderful cook and baker. Throughout her life she provided a warm, loving environment for all her family to come home to, a place of comfort, love, and the best milkshakes and pies on earth. Betty was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church for 44 years. She was an active member of the Altar Society, baked pies for church events, attended weekly adoration, and cleaned the church weekly for over 20 years until Parkinson's took over. Survivors include her children, Mary Child, John Young and his wife, Karen, Jean Klemm, Peter Young and his wife, Kim, Steven Young and his wife, Fran, David Young, Therese Hammond and her husband, Ed. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Schertz Funeral Home, from 6:00PM - 8:00PM, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00PM. The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz, Texas, at 11:30AM. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. We would like to thank Home Instead Visiting Angels, Rio Terra, Hope Hospice and caregivers Machelle, Mary, and Annie for their loving care.
