Elisa Gumban

August 22, 1936 — April 25, 2021

Elisa Javier Gumban, born on August 22, 1936 in Bulacan, Philippines, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2021 at the home she shared with her beloved departed husband in Cibolo, TX. Elisa joined our Lord and reunited with the love of her life, Ernest, at the young age of 84. She was surrounded by family and friends.

Elisa was born and raised in the Philippines. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Accounting at the University of the East, graduating with honors at the age of 20. She served as a devoted military spouse to Ernest in the US Army until he retired after 20 plus years of duty. Her perseverance, love and commitment were among the many qualities she exemplified to her family and friends.

Elisa will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law, aunt, great aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who lived life to the fullest with unwavering faith, compassion, and integrity. She was steadfast in her deep love for family, friends and country. Everyone who crossed her path was inspired by her.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Ernest L. Gumban; Moises G. Javier and Filomena Javier (Parents); Luis Javier, Gerardo Javier, Arsenia Javier Santos, Edgardo Javier, Nestor Javier, Rosa Javier Recto and Manuel Javier (Siblings); Rosario Javier (Sister-in-law); Moises C. Javier (Nephew); Jun Recto (Nephew); and Lindsey Gumban (Granddaughter).

She is survived by her children: Ellen Brown (Donald), Eric Gumban (Mona), Edwin Gumban (Joni), Ernest Gumban Jr. (Laura); grandchildren: Jaclyn Powell (Adam), Eric Gumban Jr., Leah Brown, Eliza Gumban, Samuel Gumban, Amanda Gumban, Andrew Koch, Amy Ponciano, Mallory Jones, Ricardo Damiani, Maia Gumban; great grandchildren: Henry Powell, Benjamin Powell; brother-in-law: Rodolfo Recto; nieces: Nerissa Lazaro (Paul), Rochelle Ramirez (Glenn), Rowena Recto, Edith Santos; nephews: Tito Santos, Joji Santos, Ronald Recto; great nieces: Nikki Lazaro, Maris Romero, Chini Santiago; great nephews: Jorel Lazaro, Jomari Santos, Paolo Ramirez, Macky Ramirez.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 11:15am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz, TX.
